3-on-3 League Details

Recreational & Travel Divisions by Grade

  • Boys: 2, 3–4, 5–6, 7–8 | Girls: 3–5 (elementary), 6–8 (middle school)

How It Works

Team Formation

  • Create your own team by registering individually. Teams must have 4–5 players.
Players may also register as free agents, and we will do our best to place them on a team (placement is not guaranteed).

Head Coach / Parent Leader

  • A roster should be submitted to [email protected].
For elementary divisions, a head coach or parent leader is required to be present at games.
For middle school divisions, a head coach is optional, but one parent of a team must submit a roster.

Regular Season (6 Weeks)

  • Practice Day: May 1

  • Game Days: May 8, 15, 22, 29

  • Playoffs: June 5

  • Game Times: 5:15 – 9:15 pm
(Teams play two 20-minute games per week within 1 hour)

Important Notes

  • Game Format
Games are played 3-on-3. Teams typically rotate 1–2 substitutes throughout the game.
  • Scoring:

    • 1 point for regular baskets

    • 2 points for shots behind the arc

    Starting & Possession:

    • Game begins with a coin flip

    • After a basket, the other team gets the ball

    • The ball must be passed or dribbled outside the arc before shooting again — the ball never stops after the initial check

    Shot Clock: 15 seconds

    Fouls:

    • After 7 team fouls, the other team shoots 1-1 free throws

Overtime: If tied, the first team to score 2 points wins

  • Spots are limited due to gym availability—register early!

League Apps Information

  • League Apps: Higher Learning Basketball uses League apps as the platform. Our coaches will use this for all communications. You will receive emails, but we recommend you download the mobile app. We will put the schedule in the app and that is the only way to see it.
  • Communication through the App: Please message coaches directly and not to groups. We will use the message feature within the app, but we request that parents only respond if necessary. We want to prevent the chain reaction of messages that can occur with group messaging on these platforms (and emails), often resulting in parents turning off notifications or ignoring the app.

If you have two parents and they both wish to view the schedule you must do the following:

  • The parent that registered the child can download the app and view the schedule. When registering if you added the other parent they can also download the app on their phone to view separately.
  • If you did not add the parent when you originally registered, you must add them from your desktop (not your phonehere to your family account. Once that’s done, they can download the app and view the schedule.
