At Higher Learning Basketball, we believe character, respect, and effort are just as important as talent. Our mission is to foster a positive environment where athletes can grow both on and off the court. All players, coaches, and parents are expected to uphold the following standards:
Code of Conduct
Player Code of Conduct
1. Respect for Coaches and Officials
- Follow instructions from coaches and staff.
- Accept coaching with a positive attitude.
- Show respect toward referees; their decisions are final.
2. Respect for Teammates and Opponents
- Support and encourage teammates at all times.
- Compete with integrity—no trash talk or unsportsmanlike behavior.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after games.
3. Effort and Attitude
- Give your best effort in every practice and game.
- Be punctual and ready to learn.
- Stay focused, coachable, and positive—even during setbacks.
4. Responsibility

Communicate with your coach if you’ll be late or absent.

Respect and care for your equipment and facilities.

Leave all spaces cleaner than you found them.
5. Zero Tolerance for Inappropriate Behavior
- No bullying, teasing, or negative behavior online or in person.
- No profanity, fighting, or disrespect toward others.
- No use of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.
- All campers/participants are NOT permitted to take photos or videos of other participants during any Higher Learning Basketball camp, clinic, workout, or league session. This includes posting or sharing content on social media or through personal messaging apps.
6. Commitment
- Show up consistently and be fully engaged.
- Represent Higher Learning Basketball with pride.
- Be accountable for your words, actions, and work ethic.
Coaches’ Expectations
Coaches are key to building a culture of respect and development. Coaches are expected to:
- Promote good sportsmanship from all players and parents.
- Respect referees and avoid any negative commentary or disputes.
- Use constructive, positive communication with all athletes.
- Do not tolerate disrespectful behavior from players toward anyone.
- Encourage post-game sportsmanship, including team handshakes or fist bumps.
Parental Expectations
Parents are important role models in our community. We ask parents to:
- Follow all program rules, including our zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate or disrespectful behavior.
- Ensure players arrive on time and prepared for camps, clinics, workouts and games.
- Allow coaches to lead practices without interference; observe quietly or wait outside unless invited to participate.
Consequences for Violating the Code of Conduct
Violations may result in:
- Verbal or written warning
- Suspension
- Removal from the program
*All disciplinary actions will be handled at the discretion of coaches and program directors in alignment with our values.

By participating in Higher Learning Basketball, players, parents, and coaches agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and represent our program with integrity and respect at all times.
