Who: Boys & Girls in Grades 2-8 (entering in the fall)

When: Monday, June 23 – Thursday, June 26 from 9am – 3pm; Friday, June 27 from 9am – 12pm

Camp Curriculum

Beyond teaching individual skills of ball handling with both hands, passing under pressure and shooting on the move, players will have competitive games of 1 on 1, 3 on 3 and 5 on 5.

Offense

  • Setting and using screens against man to man
  • Moving without the ball
  • Ball handling strategies
  • Proper shooting form and touch

Defense

  • Defending screens
  • Help the helper concepts
  • Closing out and contesting shots
  • Boxing out and securing rebounds

Daily Camp Schedule

9:00 AM – Warmup & Stretching
9:30 AM – Ball Handling Drills
10:00 AM – Skill Stations (Passing, Shooting, Defense)
10:45 AM – Morning Games & Scrimmages
11:45 AMLunch Break (Bring Your Own)
12:30 PM – Free Throw Practice
12:45 PM – Competition of the Day
1:30 PM – 1-on-1 or 3-on-3 Games
2:00 PM – Afternoon Game
3:00 PM – Dismissal

Jim Garcia

Camp Director

Jim is the Chairman of the Advisory Board for Warwick Youth Basketball. Currently, Jim will be the Business teacher at Bishop Hendricken High School in the fall, the Warwick Veterans Middle School Head Girls Basketball Coach, and has won multiple travel basketball state championships over the last few seasons with this boys and girls teams. He is also a former Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Warwick Veterans High School.
