DRIBBLE DRIVE SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP 2024 – NORTH KINGSTOWN

Once the academic year ends for the summer, come out to our Dribble Drive Summer Basketball Camp in North Kingstown. Campers will work on the basic fundamentals of the game (shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding and defense), play in unique skill competitions, and compete in 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 games.

WHO:

Boys & Girls (travel A & B, CAL and recreational levels for entering grades 3-8 in the fall) looking to improve their fundamental skills and gain a competitive edge in a structured camp setting.

  • Elementary Division: Grades 3-5
  • Middle School Division: Grades 6-8

WHEN:

  • Monday June 24 – Thursday June 27 from 9 am – 3 pm
  • Friday June 28 from 9am – 12 noon

WHERE:

  • North Kingstown High School Gymnasium

About Coach Eric Simonelli

  • Commissioner of the Warwick PAL Warriors youth travel basketball program in Warwick, Rhode Island (RI) for boys and girls in grades K-8.
  • Eric coaches 3rd grade girls and 7th grade boys in the Warrior in the travel program
  • President of Higher Learning Basketball.
  • He is the former State Championship Head Varsity Basketball Coach at La Salle Academy, where he compiled a 96-21 Division 1 record and a 135-49 overall record over seven seasons. Simonelli’s team was the Division 1 Champion in 2014 and 2015, the RI Open State Champion in 2015, and the RI Open State Runner-Up in 2016.
  • Former Prout School to the Division III State Championship in 2011 and 2012 and was the Division III Runner-Up in 2007.
  • Simonelli attended Duxbury High School in Massachusetts, where he scored 1,200 career points and was a Patriot Ledger, Boston Herald, and Boston Globe All-Scholastic Player.
  • At the collegiate level, he graduated from Endicott College, where he was a DIII All-American and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.

Dribble Drive Summer Basketball Camp Curriculum

Offense
-Setting and using screens against man to man
-Moving without the ball
-Ball handling strategies
-Proper shooting form and touch

Defense
-Defending screens
-Help the helper concepts
-Closing out and contesting shots
-Boxing out and securing rebounds

*Beyond teaching individual skills of ball handling with both hands, passing under pressure and shooting on the move, players will have competitive games of 1 on 1, 3 on 3 and 5 on 5.
